💥 "In the best examples, we saw providers using a qualified careers adviser to deliver one-to-one careers guidance. This guidance was most effective when the adviser was knowledgeable about the options and pathways and had a good relationship with learners and their families. It was also important that the adviser understood the learner’s needs and aspirations, gave highly personalised advice and had experience or training in an area that was relevant to the learners in that provider." - quote from the recent Ofsted review of careers guidance in specialist settings.Thank you Ofsted for giving careers advisers recognition. Effective guidance is what they aspire to 🎖

What has your representative done in his first year when most freshmen are instructed to just sit back and learn? Your representative is making an impact even in his freshman year: * Four bills under consideration * H 4544 - allows religious institutions to build tax exempt affordable housing on their property to help reduce our housing shortage. * H 4334 - makes it a statewide policy to set aside a percentage of affordable housing in all major developments AND it provides an educational component that helps residents become certified so that they can earn enough to afford market rate rents. * H 4015 - restricts the amount that landlords can charge on rental application fees which has been crippling those looking for a place to live. * H 3964 - provides tax incentives to corporations who give our small businesses large enough contracts that will require our businesses to hire more people from the community. (Black Wall Street concept). * The creation of a nonprofit, the District 25 Social Network, that focuses on the three major things that will uplift our communities: education, jobs and housing. In the first phase, we have worked on: * Bringing more GED programs to the District by working with local organizations such as District 25 Social Club, United Ministries and the Greenville County School District. From GEDs to certification to higher paying jobs is the game plan. * I’ve met with major employers in the District to plan upcoming job fairs and to encourage them to hire from within the District. * Working with one national developer and two local developers to strategize on developing more multi family, affordable housing neighborhoods. * We are also adding food insecurity to our top areas of focus in 2024. * I’ve also been appointed by the Speaker of the House to the committee created to study the effects of AI on our state. This will be critical for our community because AI can threaten many of our jobs. * I was also able to secure in excess of $80,000 for Upstate Circle of Friends to complete its medical wing that will serve Belle Meade and surrounding areas. We’ve conducted several town hall meetings in 2023 and emailed several newsletters, fulfilling our promises to keep the District informed. We’ve campaigned on both a policy and grassroots effort to uplift the District, and as you read above, promises have been kept. BUT we have so much more work to do. I need your vote. I need your support. I need your suggestions. We are RECLAIMING our District. We will REBUILD our District. And we will teach our children to REPEAT the same.

Super excited to share BGW CPA, PLLC with accounting students and professionals next week! You know, one of the things we tell prospective clients is that we built our internal processes around the "Big 4" reasons CPA firms get fired. Meaning, we get what the other guys are doing wrong, how they're continually frustrating clients, so we aim to do the opposite.I think the same can be said for what we do for our team. How we hire, train, support, forge relationships, and provide rest (meaning generous PTO they can actually use) is VERY different from the #big4 way of life. Those who join us from that environment see that pretty quickly.Accounting students and professionals, I invite you to come see for yourself. Details about the day and registration link are in first comment.BGW CPA, PLLC#anythingbuttypical#notyouraverageaccountants#notyouraverageaccountingcareer

What advice would you offer to your 21-year-old self regarding career or life advice?During the week, I had the opportunity to meet with about 150 apprentices and recent graduates from various regions across the country.I conveyed to them that in any job, there will be both enjoyable cheers and everyday choirs. It’s essential not to let the choirs overshadow the positive cheers. However to achieve this balance, it’s crucial to excel in handling the choirs and responsibilities assigned to you because that’s the core of your employment and if you can do that the cheers will come.
